Your Network is Like a Layered Cake

Warning: This blog post may trigger a serious cake craving (and the desire to grow a thriving network).

The truth is, our network is a lot like a layered cake.

At the base is the Foundation Layer. These are your wider network. Industry peers, clients, fellow entrepreneurs, event connections, and online communities. This layer creates visibility, opportunity, and momentum.

Next comes the Collaboration Layer. These are the people you work with regularly: referral partners, collaborators, and peers who exchange ideas, resources, and encouragement.

Above that is the Support Layer. These are the people who truly get it. They understand the risks, the pressure, and the behind-the-scenes work. And they show up when things feel heavy.

Then comes the Inner Circle Layer. These are the relationships rooted in trust and shared values. These women challenge you, ground you, and celebrate your growth without comparison.

And at the very top?  The Cherry on the cake: your closest connections. These are the few people who know your vision, your fears, and your capacity, and help you move forward with confidence.

Every layer matters. You don’t need everyone at the top. You just need a network that’s built with intention.
